CASE Challenge

There's a Blue Moon Challenge on Gingersnaps today and the challenge is to CASE (copy) a card by a fellow Design Team member. I chose a card by Gingersnaps Co-Founder Sharon.

The main image is from Artistic Outpost and is stamped on a panel created with Distress Inks and Glimmer Mist - a technique called Antiqued Glimmers (TJs newsletter Dec 09). I also used the Torn Frame technique (TJ Dec 08)to mat the boy. Here's a closer look at the Antiqued Glimmer panel:

It's a fun challenge to play - the only hard part is deciding who and what to CASE.

Happy Stamping!

Stamping in July

Last week we posted our monthly Reasons to Stamp feature on Gingersnaps Creations. Here's a card I made celebrating one of the flowers for July, the Delphinium. I think this stamp looks like a Delphinium - it's from an old Stampin' Up! hostess set called Echoes of Kindness. The sentiment is a new Amuse stamp.

The background behind the flower was created using watercolor crayons and an aquapainter. It's called Pointillism (TJ newsletter Dec 06) and is this week's Try That Technique challenge on the Design Junkies blog.

If you're looking for some stamping inspiration, check out the Reasons to Stamp in July post - you'll find lots to inspire you!

Stenciled Collage

I managed to squeeze an hour of playtime in yesterday afternoon and made some stenciled collage panels.

The challenge on the Design Junkie's blog last week was to try the Stenciled Collage technique from the Aug/Sept 08 edition. This isn't a technique I would normally have tried, but I loved it and will certainly do it again.

The stencil I used was from Michaels and I found it in the decorative painting/home decor section. I placed it over a Pulled Glimmers panel (TJ June/July 10) and applied white SU craft ink with a dauber. Once it was dry, I stamped the main image on top with Stazon. Here's a closer look:

The stamp and sentiment are from a retired SU set called Essence of Love. This technique works great with silhouette stamps. I bet it would look good with SU's Inspired by Nature or Upsy Daisy too.

I need to get to the woods with my dog before the heavens open - there are lots of black clouds outside. Thanks for visiting!

Gingersnaps Color Challenge

It's time again for another Gingersnaps Color Challenge and this month we're making creations in all shades of blue.

I spied a piece of blue book page background on my desk, so decided to incorporate it into my challenge card. I bought an Artistic Outpost set called Steam Punk several months ago and it seen ink yet, so I reached for this too.

The book page background included a sequin waste stamp from The Artistic Stamper, so I carried this onto the card base. I kept the rest of the card simple because the main image has a lot of detail and I wanted that to be the focus of the card.

I hope you'll check out the other Design Team creations and play along with our challenge!

Happy Stamping!

Patchwork Card

I have been really busy stamping and not just enjoying the fabulous weather we're having, but I can't share any of the projects for another couple of months because it's a surprise.....sorry!

However, I did stamp a few cards for fun this weekend. I can't believe that the June/July 2010 issue of the TJ newsletter has been out for a couple of weeks and this is the first chance I've had to try any of the techniques! The first one is called Patchwork.

I created the patchwork panel by sponging brown (Soft Suede) and blue (Baja Blue) inks onto c/stock, using post-it notes to mask of the different areas. I stamped a script background over the entire piece, then blew the dust of my sewing machine and zig zag stitched the seams.

The bird image from Artistic Outpost was lightly water colored with SU inks and mounted onto a new SU color c/stock called Early Espresso. The 1/8" taffeta ribbon is in the same color and it's so rich and dark, I know it's going to be one of my new go-to colors. I LOVE it!

Have a wonderful week!

Pulled Glimmers

I love this new Technique Junkie technique, Pulled Glimmers (June/July '10). I just wish I had more colors of Glimmer Mist. I went to my local stamp store on Tuesday and they had a whopping six bottles on the shelf - hello??? I do try to support my local store, but I may be forced online in search of more colors. Anyone got a good source?

The two shades used here are Midnight Blue and Kiwi with a brand new stamp set from Stampin' Up! called Because I Care. I highlighted some of the flower centers with Stickles, but it barely shows in the photo. Sigh....

Thanks for visiting my blog today - happy creating!

Tranparencies

Hello - I've been MIA with my cousin Kelly from New Zealand, who paid us a visit last week. There was no time for stamping or blogging but we had an awesome time with her!

It's Wednesday and that means it's challenge day on Gingersnap Creations. As always, I'm hosting this month's supply challenge and this time it's transparencies.

For my card I decided to use the transparency as a card base. The blue and green c/stock was created using a technique called Pulled Glimmers from the current TJ newsletter (June/July 10). It's such a quick and easy technique that involves dragging several colors of Glimmer Mist across card stock - I love it!

The bird image is from Stampers Anonymous and the text from a vintage book about birds that I picked up when I was home in the UK.

I made another card with this technique, but I'm going to keep you hanging until tomorrow!

Have a super day!

Flower Form Art Exchange

The most recent Gingersnap Creations Art Exchange was a flower form. Here's one of the flowers that I made. The flower base was created from a piece of the Book Page Background (tutorial here) and the quote is from Artistic Outpost.

Here's a closer look at the background:

And here are the four flowers all together.

We have another Art Exchange coming on June 3rd - don't miss it!
